Simple rhythms sometimes get the most accomplished. T Man has begun to read every day for 20 minutes as I clean up my kindergarten classroom. He sometimes reads aloud, sometimes to himself, but always right after school.
This has helped us tremendously. When we get home T can go play with Little J instead of having to read first thing. He has already done this. Before we began this new rhythm, it was a fight every day when we would arrive home.
Now, arriving home is peaceful and pleasant. The boys play and spend time together while I begin dinner for the family. Making dinner to the sound of giggling and playing is one of the best things in life.
What simple rhythm have you added to your daily routine?
How can you make school "must" less stressful for your child?
